Söbbing has published half a dozen books and hundreds of specialist articles, so that several thousand entries can now be found under his name in the legal database JURIS. His publications mainly deal with the legal issues of the digital economy, the latest technologies and artificial intelligence.
His most important works include the standard work “Handbuch IT-Outsourcing”, which is now in its 4th edition, and the first German-language book on the “Fundamental Legal Issues of Artificial Intelligence.” He has also written for the Wall Street Journal, the Handelsblatt and the FAZ, among others.
His particular passion is to write again and again about the legal aspects of extraordinary phenomena and thus to break new legal ground. For example, he has published on legal issues of in-vitro meat, homeopathic medicines, Pokémon GO, eco-design, microtargeting, dark net, Brexit, COVID-19 and space.
In view of his publications, Professor Jochen Schneider has come to the conclusion that he is a “most innovative lawyer”. Professor Bartsch has praised these publications in various places and Professor Thomas Hoeren sees the basic work on IT law as “a great achievement”.
He has also published on international legal issues, e.g. in or about the USA, UK, Switzerland, Russia, Israel, India, China. His publications have also appeared in the Indian Journal of Law and China IP Law, among others.
