Academic teaching
He began teaching early on when he became a lecturer in a master’s degree program at the MLU in 2001 that was only accessible with a law degree.
He then taught at over a dozen universities and taught for almost 10 years in the master’s/executive programs of the German Graduate School supported by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation (Lidl).
Even before his professorship, he was able to gain his first international academic experience when he visited Henry Smith at Harvard, taught for CBL in Oxford and Cambridge, and received a teaching assignment from the University of Liechtenstein for the legal issues of digital banking and algorithmic securities trading.
He has also given guest lectures at universities in Munich (LMU), Karlsruhe (KIT), Münster (ITM), Potsdam (HPI), Berlin (Hertie School of Governance), Shanghai (Tongji), among others.
Based on his academic achievements, Marco Corradi from Jesus College (Oxford) once described him as a “lawyer with an outstanding reputation.”
Professor Söbbing teaches Civil Law I & II at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences in the following courses:
- Economics and Law
- Technical Business Administration
- Financial Management
- SME Economics
- International Management
He also gives lectures on International Legal Issues, on Law in Practice and on IT Law including the Law of Artificial Intelligence in the following courses:
- Economics and Law
- Information Management
He has supervised almost a dozen Bachelor’s and Master’s theses on the subject of legal issues of artificial intelligence and is happy to receive any application from this area of law.
