Education
Söbbing studied law for the state examination and journalism, politics and history for his Magister degree in Münster. During his subsequent legal traineeship, he worked part-time for debis Systemhaus, where he negotiated IT contracts in the double-digit million range.
He worked for Thomas Hoeren and received his doctorate from the University of Siegen on the subject of “Why contract negotiations fail – a political and economic-legal comparison” under Jürgen Bellers. The second examiner of his dissertation was the former dean of the EBS University of Business and Law, Susanne Strahringer.
He also completed the LLM in information law at HHU with a CASRIP scholarship from the University of Washington and also obtained a certification in US patent and IP law during this study trip to the USA.
Söbbing successfully attended the theory courses for the specialist lawyer course in information technology law and is a certified data protection officer (TÜV).
He also completed programs at Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Shanghai and St. Gallen.
